Have you noticed this too? And now people have to spend $1,000 just to make themselves feel good [about themselves]. This $1,000 thing has really caught on out there. Like if you sell services you have to ask for at least $1,000 now. Airlines are doing this – if you want to take a domestic fight across a few states it’s $1,000.00 now. What’s funny is they’ll take you somewhere for only $400.00, but they want $650.00 to return you back home? Why is that? So if I take a one-way trip and just stay there [forever] you mean I can save $650.00? Nice! Why don’t airlines want people to return home anymore? I mean, I think I would like to get back home [one day]. But then I could walk back I suppose. Gee, I wonder how many planes I’d see pass me in the sky on my two month trek back home? However, to be fair [in reporting], rides on the outside wings, [either one] are still free I suppose? So traveling “Afghan-style” is one option. 🙂
I needed some sheetrock repairs on some walls done in my townhouse, it’s a relatively small job. I had to tear out some sheetrock for a room renovation project. Called a guy out, a sheetrock contractor, he took a look at it and promptly emailed me a bid. “We can complete your job, your total cost is $1,000”. I was thinking maybe he was having to purchase that round-trip plane ticket too? No, must just be a coincidence, but then just maybe. I called his office back a few days later and told his assistant I was fine with his quote so please have him call me when he can get started. That was a week ago and he still hasn’t returned my phone call. I guess he opted to save money too by buying only a one-way ticket. He’s probably still not heard my message, I bet he’s walking back home from that one-way destination? This could take awhile.
Then I was looking at a sword, one of these vintage Civil War relics to hang on the wall. I talked to one guy, a dealer in these kind of things, he had taken one in for sale on consignment I guess, he said the owner wants $1,800 for it but I was thinking I could probably get it for $1,000, because again, isn’t everything else $1,000? Like if you take your car in for any repair, or even a minor scratch it’s going to run you $1,000. This is how life works now, remember several years ago when everything was $500? You don’t remember that far back? Neither do I… meh.
Hooray, we’ve made it! Powell got us over the finish line!
Prices were seriously stable under Donald Trump. What once cost $800, now cost $1,000? And what once cost $35K, now costs $50K – thanks Fed Chair Powell! I remember wondering in the back of my mind if the fact that he has no formal education in Economics would matter when I heard he was an attorney. That was a while back. Greenspan and Bernanke were both schooled in Economics, Bernanke has a PhD in the subject. I was right to wonder, now that’s turned into worry. I think Powell goes down, gets removed, he doesn’t have the “right stuff” between his ears…
