I thought I would give some feedback on a couple sites I joined this past year, two “conservative friendly” sites, namely, “Truth Social” and “Parler”. If you’re still on Fakebook and you’re a political conservative, you’re swimming against the tide 24/7, and probably a bit disenchanted with all the censoring of truth by America’s Nazi Socialists. Maybe you’re planning to leave FB or at least add another site more in tune with your conservative views? Then this information will be welcoming news to you.
The pieces of Socialist trash that run FB are the same trash that was born on Twitter at least prior to the purchase by Elon Musk. By the way, Elon had to take his acquisition of Twitter private immediately just to avoid the inevitable, a share price that was heading into the $20’s for certain, after Elon’s drunken over-priced bid of $54/share. One sad consequence but maybe Elon can make his changes to this total piece of dog doo work for the better going forward? Remember what happened to shares of AOL, Yahoo, and just recently Meta? I know some investors would love to forget all about it! 🙂
So let’s take a look differences [I’ve noticed thus far] between being a Parler user and user of Truth Social. By the way I’m on both so please come visit or add me if you’re on either of these sites. You can find me under my own name, or Brantology.
On Content:
Both Parler and Truth Social have plenty of good content but the similarity ends there. Truth Social has a much greater degree of focus on anything surrounding Donald Trump and what the naughty Democrats have done or refuse to have done to someone/anyone lately. It’s all the same criminal suspects we’ve known of in the past. While the content on Parler is more balanced – not just politics, which can make it feel more like the old FB. As a conservative on either site note that you’ll have the typical Socialist Utopian trolls that will make nasty comments on your conservative stuff, reminding me of my days on FB. Some of these idiots are even on Truth Social, however, I’ve noticed their numbers are a bit smaller so you may be bothered less.
Audience:
Both sites offer uncensored opinion within some standard limits – that is, I guess it’s possible to violate rules and get kicked off of either of these like making violent threats or other types of criminal activity. However, your general opinions on things are mostly safeguarded on either of these sites, even when you’re being a total dumbass. 🙂 I’ve noticed that Parler has more people promoting personal business ventures as opposed to Truth Social. I’ve seen wedding photographers and all kinds of other professionals tout their offerings over Parler. Truth Social seems to be specializing more in high profile politicians and recognizable network politicos along with talk-show hosts touting their latest opinions. I don’t recall seeing much in the way of individuals promoting self-employed ventures, or even personal websites on Truth Social though ads are now showing up. I usually place my blog posts on my Truth Social site and noticed that very few people get redirected to read my opinions.
Ease of Use:
Parler conveniently offers users an easy edit button on posts allowing you to correct any misspelled words and grammar. Truth Social does not allow one to edit their own comment, it’s a send once and done on here. The only thing you have the ability to do with you’re own comments or posts on Truth Social is create one and delete it, if you so choose. Other than that you’re stuck living with it as is on Truth Social, very frustrating IMO.
Both sites allow a user to block another user, or even report someone for their behavior, similar to FB. I think Parler has a couple other bells and whistle settings around that feature over what Truth Social offers. Some kind of level of settings for seeing or not seeing someone’s content, etc.
Truth Social has a small limit on character size for posts and comments, it’s pretty small. This is kind of a headache often times requiring the contributor to condense their words whereas Parler allows as much as 1,000 characters to create a post on their site. I find Parler’s 1,000 character minimum to be more than adequate most of the time to express whatever I’m trying to convey on Social Media out there.
Truth Social was planning to add a messenger type feature, probably something similar to what Messenger on FB, but to my knowledge they have yet to launch such a feature after advertising it one year ago. I haven’t seen anything regarding a plan to launch a personal messaging back office software offering to Parler users.
Parler has a feature though that is very, very useful to those writing posts or even just commenting on another post. Parler provides an icon that tallies the number of views anything written on their site has received. So, for example, you can see when at least 100 people have seen [and I assume read] one of your posts or comments. This kind of stuff is really useful to anyone like me who writes content. At least you can see if your stuff is being seen, and whether or not you received any feedback. I wish Truth Social would add this feature.
In Summary –
First of all I’d like to convey that both of these sites are far superior to being censored by Meta and Twitter. I can’t change who I am, and frankly, I mostly like who I am and smart enough to understand which Social Media sites are a best fit for my uses, so there’s that. I left FB in December of last year to launch my own blog and never once have I ever participated on Twitter. However, considering these two choices, I would have to say that Parler is probably a better fit for my style and objectives between these two among Conservative Social Media. I still do check Truth Social as their economic/finance related posts remain important to me. I like to know what certain people I follow [experts in their fields] are thinking. Having both of these sites in addition to my own blog site, brantology.com, provides me [personally] with more than I need in the way of Social Media these days. I hope you can benefit from my comparison and contrast between these two Social Media site offerings. Both are benefiting from their stance to never censor users which [I believe] is the future of Social Media. Best of luck with your search for a perfect conservative social media experience that fills your needs! 😉
I almost reluctantly joined it, I signed on and didn’t return to it for a couple weeks because I thought it would be a “been there, done that” kind of experience. I was wrong, I really think it’s a bit more user friendly over Truth Social in several ways. I don’t know if I would have even signed on to Truth Social had I known that you can’t go back and edit a post, ridiculous!
I’m probably going with Parler again. At first they weren’t very user friendly but, I’m sure they’re still improving user experience.
