When You Look [for me] and Cannot Find [me]

I recently heard from a past client, he began his reason for calling me with “A man’s gotta make a plan for everything, including where he plans to spend Eternity!” [Such a classic line, I had to share it! If he’s reading this he knows who he is, he’s a great person and a man of God.] More on planning for your [very own] eternity after this word from our Sponsor…

“Thus would our Lord impress upon His followers that the body is an integral part of man’s nature, to be neither indulged nor ill-treated, but by the help of His grace, and by the practice of constant discipline, to be brought back to that position of dignity and true liberty as cooperator with the soul in the service of God, which it held before the Fall.” [of man]
“And it is in the hope of the resurrection that this is to be done.”
– Excerpts from the book, “Christian Self-Mastery” by Basil W. Maturin.

“When you look for me and cannot find me, it’s because I dwell inside your soul, not your body”. So Jesus makes a distinction, our bodies are of this earth in this very imperfect world we live in. Souls are different, souls have flight, they are everlasting spirits, which leads me to share this biblical idea, “Feed the Soul First?” Have you noticed your body and soul are often times in conflict? Sometimes even constant conflict as there’s a ton of stuff our bodies want but don’t really need, things we could even live without as some aren’t good to have. If you ever get these thoughts, your soul is perhaps pushing back on something, but often can get overruled by thoughts from your body. Pretty common stuff, not many can claim perfection in this life, there is only one [thus far] that I know of that beat temptation and you know his name.

Do not beat yourself up about this fact, it is written and lies at the heart of the very basis for Scripture inside the New Covenant. For there exists two separate worlds, Heaven and Earth, and for those who cling only to the latter, it will mean certain death, without life everlasting. All this Scripture is trying to do is get you/us from here to an “Eternity”, of which they describe only one. However, should another “eternity” become available I promise to be [almost] the first to exclaim it on here, okay?” 🙂

From all indications I have [thus far] “eternity” is not located anywhere near here, no matter where we might call home – a cottage on the Cape? Perhaps a New York City high-rise? How about on the French Riviera? All these residences have one thing in common, your stay will come to a permanent end. It’s never everlasting. No, there’s only one “eternity” available, but fair warning, the rent is indeed high! Hey nothing good is ever free right? Look at it this way, there’s a cost for everything, including the ability to transport yourself to that which is “eternal”. It has become apparent to me that hiring Jesus to help us achieve eternity will not be free, as true Christians we will have sacrifices to make. Sacrifices that you and I will not determine for ourselves. What we have to hope for is that these sacrifices are not even close to those endured by the Apostles John and Paul, among other followers of Jesus Christ… but will it all be worth it in the end? Yes!
