Why can’t every driver use their blinkers so we know what their intentions are? Instead, it seems like one-fourth of all drivers out there want us to guess their plans for changing lanes and making turns. Will they be turning left or turning right? Or maybe they’re going straight instead. We are made to guess, and get this, when you guess wrong these same idiots will honk at you! I’ve had that happen to me. (Amazing stupidity.)
As I was driving back home today I was curious as to exactly how much effort is required to use a car’s blinker? Like how far is a blinker located from where our hands are already on the steering wheel? I’m hoping that each of us have at least one hand on the steering wheel, or maybe some don’t. Maybe that’s why they don’t use their blinkers? My blinker is located 2″ from my steering wheel, that’s all. And so is yours and yours and yours and yours and, well you know… it’s the case for most of us.
For those drivers that do use their blinkers I thank them for not having me guess where they’re going so I can avoid their aluminum chassis. Once you signal to the rest of us what you’re intentions are you might even find more people willing to accommodate you – let you in their lane, yield for you, stop for you, etc. because you showed enough respect for someone by taking all the guessing out of your intentions.
Seriously, how much effort is required to use a blinker when it’s reachable by fingers already sitting on a steering wheel? I don’t personally know any adults whose fingers are not at least two inches long. There may be some but they’re certainly not 25-33% of our population. I think the real issue here is this country is full of lazy and inconsiderate people on the roads, people that have zero respect for others much less their auto possessions… that’s what I think.
