No one, not one golfer ever mentioned having to watch out for alligators while hitting golf balls in Florida. It’s amazing to me and sometimes funny what people get used to living with. We even adapt to stuff like alligators, as golfers will play golf despite the elements! 😊
However, my suggestion for anyone out of state planning to travel to Florida to play golf – first ask the clubhouse if their resident alligators have eaten lately, or not. Or, maybe just book a late tee time? That way some of the early bird golfers could have been on the alligator breakfast menu, instead of you, and their full by now? One would hope at least. Besides they don’t want to eat a golfer like me, pick a scratch golfer instead, not a high handicapper like myself – trust me high handicappers aren’t that tasty and consuming us will only lead to heartburn. 🤪
Seriously, my golf game is bad enough, but now I gotta worry about being eaten by a gator? Okay there’s something wrong with that whole thing. Like we have mosquitos and ants and stuff like that in Texas but they will only bite you then pretty much go on about their day. That’s not the case in Florida, no I’m paying big fees to play on private courses and essentially having to look out for man-eating beasts which can sprint faster than I can drive a hapless ball into a swamp?
I was in Montana this past summer and I was told there are bears running around the golf courses there, though I never saw one myself, they were out there… I don’t think many Montana bears must like to play golf. I think fishing for salmon must be their sport of choice. Although a few of the 120 golfers on this Florida trip did spot alligators along the waters edge, and even took photos. Funny thing is I never saw one golfer where they wanted to pose in the same photo with their subjects… all-in-all I’m proud to say I woke up this morning with all 10 fingers and 10 toes intact. 😁
